Jonas Urba earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management & Administration from Indiana University, a Master's in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, and a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University.  He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1988, the Colorado Bar in 1994 (currently inactive), and the Massachusetts Bar in 2008.

In 2011, Jonas earned his credential as a Certified Fraud Examiner.  He assists teams investigating fraud, provides expert witness support, and litigates cases, including many where fraud issues are alleged or material to dispositive issues, within the state and federal jurisdictions where he is admitted.

By definition, the search for truth, which all legal professionals have at one time or another sworn an allegiance to uphold, involves analyzing potential fraud.  The intentional misrepresentation of material facts causing financial harm was addressed by Jonas Urba as an Assistant State Attorney.  He addressed similar issues with employment practices and employment discrimination cases both as an Assistant General Counsel of a licensure and regulatory agency as well as a private practitioner in implied employment contract cases.

Jonas Urba has encountered issues of fraud in workers compensation cases as well as personal injury matters.  The challenges posed to uncover and document such issues during the production of documents or in depositions are often very rewarding.  Such rewards are ascertainable regardless of which side one represents and regardless of whether the information is obtained formally, informally, in court, during mediation or in any other venue or by any other manner.

Make certain that you retain an attorney with substantial experience as both a litigator and one who has concrete transactional experience.  Jonas began his career primarily as a litigator although he was fortunate to obtain invaluable experience within a general counsel's office in preparation for a period of primarily transactional work.  This gave him the foundation to represent LGBT / GLBT clients in hundreds of transactional matters, which often incorporated civil rights issues.

More recently, Jonas Urba investigates, mediates, and litigates cases.  His practice areas include administrative law, licensure and regulatory law, contracts, LGBT / GLBT issues, employment law, Fair Labor Standards Act cases, civil rights matters, health care issues, personal injury, workers compensation, social security disability and other cases involving allegations of deceit, malingering, misrepresentation, or fraudulent conduct.

Jonas Urba is most interested in the debate surrounding the new health care laws since they have and will continue to affect each one of us for many years to come.  One reason there continues to be so much debate regarding the overhaul is because health care fraud can be very challenging to prove and to defend when the science or "art" at issue is fluid and ever-changing.

Jonas Urba welcomes all types of investigative and research assignments; especially those concerning or alleging elements of fraud.  As stated herein, his experience is very broad and he continues to seek challenges in new as well as old areas of the law.  He welcomes assignments concerning expert witness opinions and testimony.  He also litigates cases in administrative, state and federal venues where he is admitted to do so.  Please call him to discuss your specific needs.
